Our Trustees

To make sure that WPH Counselling is well maintained and working in line with our organisational mission, our charity is governed by our Board of Trustees, who regularly meet to oversee and discuss the charity’s operations.

How our trustees help us

Our trustees play a very important role in ensuring that we operate according to the best interests of the community that we serve to support. They provide strategic oversight of the management and administration of the charity and are essential ‘guardians of purpose’, making sure that everything we do supports our mission and aims. What our trustees don’t do, however, is the day-to-day running of the charity; these responsibilities are delegated to our staff.

Our trustees play an important role in ensuring that we comply with relevant laws and governance, making sure that our resources and assets are used appropriately and sustainably, keeping us accountable to the people we serve and helping to steer the direction, ambitions and identity of the charity. Our trustees come from many different walks of life and backgrounds and have a broad range of skills and experiences; ultimately, they all share a passion for making mental health services accessible to members of our local community.

Become a trustee

We occasionally have openings on our board to welcome new trustees and are always interested to hear from individuals who feel they may be able to support our organisation by becoming a member.

I really wanted to support a charity in my local area, and WPH appealed to me as mental health is such a key factor for wellbeing in all our lives. I feel being a trustee is very different from my day job, but I had skills, experience, and some time that I could offer to help, and so I joined the trustee board as a way of giving back. It’s so rewarding to support local organisations and be part of a team helping to shape and develop much needed services.
