About Us

WPH Counselling is a caring and professional charity, offering a range of free and confidential counselling services. From the outset, we wanted to establish a safe and welcoming place where people could find compassionate care, reliable information and emotional support in times of crisis and concern.

Who we are

Since we were founded in 1992, we have worked hard to maintain the core values of respect, unconditional positive regard, care, and compassion for all people wishing to make use of the services we provide. Here at WPH, we do not support any political party or campaigns, such as pro-life or pro-choice groups, and our counsellors do not impose any personal views onto the individuals that they support. You will never be pressured into something you don’t want to do; we are here to offer time and space to help and support you in finding your own answers at your own pace. We will respect your confidentiality and the choices you make to the best of our abilities, offering you clear information and supporting you through whatever difficulties or concerns you are facing.

Our charitable status

We are committed to providing free counselling services and to respecting all individuals’ social, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds and sexual orientations. As a charitable organisation, we are not focused on making a profit and our priority is to support anyone from the local community seeking to access our services. As a result, we do not charge individuals for accessing our services and we are funded by commissioned contracts, such as NHS Commissioners, private contracts, grant project funding and through donations.

Our accredited service

WPH Counselling is a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited service and follows their “Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions”. All of our counsellors abide by an approved code of ethics, follow all WPH policies and procedures and are suitably trained and qualified to fulfil their role. On top of many years of experience, our counsellors regularly attend sessions with a counselling supervisor, to ensure that they are always able to do the very best for our clients. All WPH employees always respect and value your viewpoint and carry out necessary training in relation to their roles to help everyone accessing our services have a positive experience.

To ensure that the charity is well maintained and running in line with our organisational mission, WPH Counselling is governed by our Board of Trustees, who meet regularly to oversee and discuss the charity’s operations.

Working with the community

As an organisation that works to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the individuals in our community, we recognise the value in working with local partners. As such, we have formed several working relationships with local organisations and work closely with them to enhance our services. WPH Counselling is also a member of the Walsall No Wrong Door partnership, a network that brings together multiple services within Walsall that offer individuals support with their mental health and wellbeing. Representatives from WPH attend various regional meetings to discuss mental health and related topics with other organisations, all working together to support our communities. This is our way of taking the knowledge and experience that we have gained over the years through our client work and sharing it with others, to contribute towards improvements in the future.

We are always keen to work with those accessing, or who may access, our services, to gain feedback. That’s why we ask everyone to whom we provide counselling support, to complete a feedback form telling us about how we are doing and whether anything wasn’t quite how they would have liked it. We value all feedback received and our management team review this information closely, to see if there is anything we can apply to our practices in the future.
